| I casted red/white codell pencil poppers into the surf as we cruised up and down a long strip of coast 20 miles south of Ixtapa. With each cast I reeled in as fast as I could to make the lure skip on the surface to entice the Roosters. One giant slammed my popper and at first it made a 100 yard run straight to the beach where it then headed out to sea. After about an hour of fighting the fish, it finally got tired and I won the battle. I was tired too by the way as you can see from the expression on my face! This was a memorable moment since it is rare to catch such a large fish on light tackle. |
