A bit of Stormy weather along with light fishing pressure made for a slow week of fishing in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. First time visitor to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Andrew Kimbrell from Washington DC, fishing aboard the Dos Hermanos 1 with captain Adolofo Espinosa landed 10 ROOSTERFSIH to 60 Lbs, 10 YELLOWTAIL JACKS, 1 NEEDLEFISH and 1 SKIPJJACK TUNA in one day of fishing. The inshore fishery remains strong with most of the action occurring on top water Cotton Cordell pencil poppers. Mr Kimbrell also fished offshore one day with Captain's Chiro & Efraine on the Vamonos 3 hooking 3 SAILFISH on a fly but loosing all three fish. Virginia Angler, Ed Lewis also fishing aboard the Vamonos 3 tried his luck at the inshore fishery Loosing one Big Roosterfish and breaking off another two. Mr. Lewis did land 1 DORADO and 2 BONITOS. More seasonable inclement weather hit the area last week but fishing remained good when conditions permitted the boats to get out.

A wild inshore week with RED HOT ROOSTERFISH was the ticket last week in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Favorable sea and weather conditions made for non-stop top water pencil poppin action. Once again the Cotton Cordell 6', 1 OZ. Model was the top producer. However the fish have turned on to the Blue and Chrome color instead of the normally favored red and peal color. First time visitor to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Andrew Kimbrell from Washington DC, landed 15 ROOSTERFISH from 45 - 70 Lbs over a two day period while fishing with Captain Adolofo Espinosa. Mr. Kimbrell also landed 10 YELLOWTAIL JACKS along with some BONITO and SKIPJACK TUNA. Mr. Kimbrell took several of the BONITO and SKIPJACK TUNA On a fly. Captain Adolofo fishing another 3 days landed 18 ROOSTERFISH and 20 YELLOWTAIL JACKS. The offshore action continues to be hit or miss with some good SAILFISH days reported along with some some shut outs. Several marlin were also reported this week.

A little more fishing activity this week with sea and weather conditions cooperating nicely for this time of year. First time French Angler Mr Touseau fishing aboard the Dos Hermanos 1 for 4 days landed a total of 9 SAILFISH, 8 SKIPJACK TUNA, 30 YELLOWTAIL JACKS and 7 BONITOS. Mr. Lad Shunneson from Denver Colorado also fishing with captain Adolofo for a day of inshore fishing caught up to a nice school of ROOSTERFISH landing 4 up to 55 Lbs before noon. Mr. Shunneson had landed three ROOSTERS in short order and decided to take a short break. Leaving one live bait dangling off the back of the Dos Hermanos 1, Mr Shunneson and captain Adolofo prepared to enjoy their lunch when a 40 lb ROOSTRFISH crashed the bait just a few feet from the stern. Saving the rod and hooking the fish, Mr Shunneson fought the big ROOSTER and landed it 40 minutes later. Turning his attention to offshore Mr Shunneson landed 1 SAILFISH and a handful of nice Oceanic SKIPJACK TUNA while fishing aboard the Dos Hermanos 2. In addition to the good ROOSTERFISH, JACK, and SAILFISH activity our captain are reporting some Dorado showing up as well.

The SAILFISH AND ROOSTERFISH have taken over the Ixtapa/ Zihuatanejo as both inshore and offshore action improved this past week. New Jersey angler Jerry Dailey fishing 2 Offshore days with Captain Adolofo landed 7 SAILFISH. Turning his attention to ROOSTERFISH for the next three day, Mr. Dailey landed 18 ROOSTERS with the largest approaching the 70 Lb Mark. All of the fish were taken on live bait as the fish were reluctant to take top water pencil poppers. Live goggle eyes were the hot ticket and there were just a fish big needle fish in the surf which gave the Roosters ample opportunity to find the live baits. First time visitor to the area, Mr. Royce Poinsett, from Austin Texas also scored offshore with Captain Temo on the Secuestro De Amor. Mr. Poinsett landed a SAILFISH on his first day out. Michigan angler Pete Peterson, also fishing aboard the Secuestro, chose to bottom fish for the day and landed a nice catch of red snapper. The blue water is inside the bay and all of the action was taken inside of 10 miles. The tuna schools have moved very far offshore and no marlin were reported.
